Istanbul Technical University is a Turkish technical university having the history of 239 bright years. Its modern learning environment, strong academic staff, educational department as engineering and architecture has become identical with the teaching of school of the arts. The Istanbul Teknik Universitesi was founded in 1773 with the aim of providing technical and architecture education.
Previously it was named as Royal School of Naval Engineering. The Royal School of Military Engineering was also founded in 1795 to provide education to Army technical staff. Gaining lots status in engineering and architecture, it continues to provide learning in same field till the date of 1944 when it was integrated into ITU, istanbul teknik universitesi become a self-governing university in 1946 and has introduced many of engineering departments such as Faculties of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Having the great history of 239 years, ITU is providing high reputational technical education within modern atmosphere of learning with the support of strong academic staffs. From the time when it was founded, the university has continuously escort the approach in development and now it plays a key role in modernization, administration and reconstruction of the country.
ITU has five campuses in Istanbul including of 13 regular colleges and 6 research centers and provides more than 145 masters and PhD degree programs and 39 undergraduate degree programs. More than 25000 full time students are currently studying in different departments. The university offers modern learning facilities to students and its contact with global institutions provides complete global arena to young and talented individuals.
